Design
The Sonim XP7 is on par with other ruggedized phones, measuring 5.5 x 2.8 x 0.78 inches and weighing 10.2 ounces. Note that there’s an antenna-looking stub on top of the phone, but it houses the speakerphone. And it may make the phone tricky to pocket.

The rubber used to protect the phone is surprisingly bouncy. If dropped, the phone may jump six inches or more. Also, you get a rubberized cover to protect the headphone jack.

Additionally, the XP7 features Gorilla Glass 2 over the screen, and the SIM card slot is screw-on for extra protection.

With the IP69 and IP69 ratings, this smartphone can take a lot of beating. The numbers indicate that you can pressure wash, submerge, or drop the phone from six feet without any damage.

The rating also shows that solvents don’t strip any of the coatings, and the phone can withstand intensive dust. And yes, if it falls face-down onto a hard surface, the screen won’t break.

Lastly, the XP7 performs well in extreme temperatures, but keep in mind that there’s a limit to what it can take.

Internals
Snapdragon 400 is the phone’s CPU, and it has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory is 12.5GB, but a chunk of that goes to the operating system.

Admittedly, this isn’t too much, but the XP7 is a mid-range model, and it performs accordingly. Now, don’t take this the wrong way. It’s easy to be a nitpicky tech-buff, but the XP7 won’t let you down or bug you when you need it the most.

Using productivity and business apps is a lag-free and smooth experience. But if you try to play a more demanding game such as Beach Buggy Racing, there could be some dropped frames.

Sonim XP7 Battery
The XP7 battery performs as if it’s made from plutonium. Jokes aside, you get a 4,800mAh battery with a talk time of 40 hours, and you can get that much.

With casual use – which includes browsing the web, talking, and taking photos – this phone may last for four days without the battery completely draining. Should you stream videos at full brightness, it can take more than 12 hours to drain all the juice.

This kind of performance makes the Sonim XP7 a great choice for all professionals who need to be off the beaten track for a few days.
