Having owned a number of other smartwatches, I was always let down by sluggish behaviour, poor screens or a lack of functionality. Immediately though after unboxing and powering on, it feels like a smartwatch worth wearing. Solid build quality, fantastic screen, extremely fast and responsive OS packed with features. What's not to love? Well, a few minor issues, but these comes from the Samsung ecosystem. Duplication of apps between Google's Native apps and Samsung own variations. Some of the functionality such as ECG and blood oxygen required a Galaxy smartphone to use, if you want to trigger it from a Tile for instance, however if you load the Health app on the watch, you can do it without a Galaxy phone. Battery life is OK, no where near as good as some other smart watches, however with the screen off and using it mainly as a watch with a few notifications and an hour of precise GPS tracking for a walk, I can end a 14-16 hour day with around 50% battery left. All in all, very happy with this watch.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is a quality offering with a large, bright, customizable face and a comprehensive suite of applications. However, like many of today's tech items, the supporting app is difficult to load and configure. It required multiple attempts to download and install the software and after I finally did get it installed a number of functions did not work. It was only after extensive tweaking of permissions and settings on the phone that I was able to get the Samsung phone and the Samsung watch to fully sync and work together. Although the band offers sufficient options to fit different sized wrists, the vinyl material is uncomfortable and feels clammy. I will be investigating alternatives in the hopes that it can be made more pleasant to wear. Battery life seems insufficient. Currently the watch must be charged nightly in order to make it through a full work day. Charging speed is good and the provided proprietary base allows wireless charging however the adapter has a male USB-C end and is pretty short. There is no charging brick included (not that unusual in this day) but you will need to make sure you have a charger with the appropriate connector. The features are quite good. The watch offers almost everything we were looking for BUT the short battery life means that trying to collect a full-days stats is challenging and the band is so uncomfortable that there are days it stays on the shelf. In summary - the watch is less than perfect but has promising potential. I am hoping that future firmware updates will help me learn to love this device!

I have had two prior Galaxy watches. My last one was getting a little old and I was so happy to hear that the 6 would be available in a classic version with the rotating bezel. I jumped on it and have been mostly satisfied. The look is exactly what I wanted and I'm happy with the updated strap connection. I have been able to swap out straps easily as well. I'm pairing with a Google Pixel phone and it's been easy. The only hiccup so far is that my watch would not download the update. Customer service told me to visit a local phone repair shop, but they told me there's nothing they can do with software issues. Ultimately, I had to factory reset the watch. After doing so, my watch was finally able to successfully load the update. It's not a deal breaker, but kind of a headache. I hope that will not happen again with future updates.

First impressions, great. As always with Samsung, the packaging and presentation is top notch. I've not had a Samsung watch before but always used their phones so I expected it to be user friendly and it really is even though I'm certain I haven't fully experienced all it can do yet! I love the look of it and the range of faces you can choose from. It's sleek and stylish looking. And can be as subtle or as lary as you choose! It fits nicely. The band feels like quality. Connecting was simple. I particularly love the sleep tracker. As a chronic insomniac it's really helping me track and improve my sleep timings, quality and general knowledge. The fitness tracker is fantastic. It comes with all the bells and whistles you'd need. It even measures stress, BP, ECG etc which is great and beneficial and actively encourages you to breathe deeply and slow down... or to get up and move if you're having a lazy / computer day. Replying to messages and receiving calls works very well. I didn't even know it had a mic/speaker until my first facetime when I realised I was talking via my watch and not my phone. My only gripe would be battery length. Initially it didn't even last one day. I'm not sure if that's normal. But I'm getting into a habit of when to give it a boost charge and that's working out well as it actually charges at lightening speed so it's no huge issue. There's loads more to say and I'll add to this once I've had it longer and explored more. For now, it's a big win.

Great Sleep & Health Tracking

Samsung did it again, they added another excellent product to their Galaxy umbrella. The Samsung Galaxy Watch6 does not disappoint. I have far more good things to say about it than bad. It is so seamless having this watch work with all the typical Samsung apps in the ecosystem without having to get additional apps on your phone. First off, the appearance is very classy and simple. Thereโs no bezel just a flat surface with 2 side buttons. I was worried about it getting scratched because Iโm a little rough on things but so far it has stood up. Normally I get bigger watch faces but this one fit me perfectly and there was a good measuring diagram on the box to see if it would fit your wrist. I love the design of the silicone band where the extra tail tucks back into the band. This allows for a snug fit with some cushion without cutting off circulation. I didnโt have any reactions to the silicone, but it does capture a lot of water. It traps water from washing hands, when itโs hot out, and when exercising. I didnโt have any issues with skin reactions from the sensor, on my last Galaxy watch I did so this is an improvement to me. The sensor is veryโฆ sensitive, which is a good thing. I didnโt have to wear the watch tight for it to pick up vitals. In the past I had to wear the sensor on my inner wrist so Iโm glad this isnโt an issue anymore. I mostly got this watch for health tracking and Iโm very impressed. It tracked my work out very well with steps, heart rate, and auto sensing a work out was happening. There was an informative graph of my heart rate and what my max and average heart rate was with a lot of breakouts. All of this just on the watch! You can view it on the phone in the Samsung Heath app to get a bigger view. There is a body mass function that runs different sensors through your body that seemed very accurate and informative. Again, a bigger break out is on the phone but the watch has most of what I wanted to look at. Stress and ECG monitoring are another two features that I really liked trying out. Everything is super easy to use and intuitive to read. My favorite feature of the whole watch is the sleep monitoring. Far improved from my prior watch. I didnโt have any tracking interruptions from moving in my sleep. There werenโt any accidental watch swipes into other apps. Samsung did an excellent job of capturing all the data on the watch screen so itโs quick to see how your rest was. When paired with the phone it will detect amount of time snoring. The watch sensor picks up your sleep cycles, blood oxygen level, and body temp. This provided me great insight to try to address sleep concerns. The watch battery and charge are impressive. I got about a day and a half of use on one charge, and it took less than 30min to fully charge. When the watch gets wet showering or swimming it has a feature to blow the water out of it with sound that works well. The display is bright but dimmable and very crisp. I think my biggest gripe with this watch is that it doesnโt come with a USB-C wall wort. I have a ton of the USB-A ones from over the years but the charger end needs USB-C so I had to go buy one. Overall, I highly recommend this watch though.

What can I say, the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 blew me away. My main concern with a smart watch is if it'll do the "basic" things well. Does it hold a solid connection, does it hang and stutter while being used, and is the battery life up to scratch. I can categorically say the watch does all of these things and more! First, lets talk about the design - it's sleek, minimalistic and customisable. I was given the Rose Gold (my last choice), and was worried it would look too feminine for my liking. However, with a swap of the straps and a Sprigen case, I now prefer it to the all black Pro that I wanted! The black straps enhance the rose gold/bronze highlights, making it a real eye catcher. Also, the two buttons on the side are tactical with just the right amount of feedback. I've used other branded watches in the past who's buttons a "spongey" and not satisfying to use. Next up is the Wear OS3 and the Galaxy Watch app, which work perfectly! I ran into one bug (trying to get google assistant to work), but a quick restart fixed it. The watch is fast, responsive and packed full of features. I can change faces, settings, check stats and update things all through my phone, which sometimes is just more convenient. All of the default tiles are useful, well laid out and offer a lot of information. They're also fully customisable so I can set the watch up how I'd like. Finally, I was incredibly impressed by the battery life and fitness/health tracking. Just yesterday I used my watch as normal, no exercise involved, and ended a full day with 71% charge. On days I've gone for a walk, or hit the gym, I've ended the day with around 30% charge. This can of course vary, depending on intensity of use and if any updates have been installed. But all in all, I've been amazed by the battery. The same can be said about the fitness tracking and options. A blood pressure monitor and ECG built into my watch? That's amazing. The fitness tracking is detailed and flawlessly recognised when I started a workout, or just set off on a walk. In conclusion, the Galaxy Watch5 is the perfect smart watch for what I need. It does all of the basics flawlessly, and has enough extra features to keep up with me and encourage me to try more things out! I'd highly recommend anyone with an Android phone (or even more so with a Samsung), to give this watch a try!

A smartwatch that can do it all

This is my first smartwatch, so I have a previous model or another brand to compare it to. I am a newbie when it comes to this watch, and you will notice that in my review. My watch is the Bluetooth/WIFI model. I have a Galaxy Note 9 phone with Android 10.0 and Samsung Health version 6.24, so connecting a Samsung watch to a Galaxy phone was easy to set up and I have the full range of apps and options. I have to say that being a woman, the Galaxy Watch6 40 mm seems less clunky. That saying, if your vision is deteriorating, the 44mm size would be advisable. The gold band (20mm, size S/M) is a cream color and goes so well with my entire wardrobe. I chose the sport band model because it is plain and subdued. Sweat after an intense workout easily wipes off. At 33g and made of aluminum, it is very lightweight. The display is identical to the Galaxy Watch6 Classic and comes with 2 buttons. Unlike the Classic with the physical rotating bezel, this has a digital bezel. Never having had a physical rotating bezel, the digital is just fine. One of the first things I did upon pairing was personalize the watch face with one of the free designs. Then I increased the font size. Most people gravitate to purchasing a sport watch for the ability to record workouts (duration, distance, calories burned, heart rate, etc.). The Samsung Watch6 offers more than just tracking sport activities. Take a look at these health featuresโ Advanced Sleep Coaching (detect snoring, understand & track sleep stages), ECG/Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification, Personalized Heart Rate Zones, BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis), Skin Temperature/Cycle Tracking, and Blood Oxygen. For women who menstruate, you can opt into tracking your cycle with your body temperature. What you get in the box is the watch with a band, and a USB-C wireless charger. I miss the days when you get a charging block that goes into a DC outlet. Initially, the battery charge was an issue. While it is a 300mAh battery and advertised for up to 40 hours, I couldnโt get through a full day with heavy use (multiple exercise sessions, lots of notifications, texting, emailing, phone calls, sleep coaching) unless I turned off the always-on display and use the bedtime mode to dim the display and switch to the infrared sensors. My husband appreciated not having the room lit up all night. The watch suggests a multitude of ways to conserve battery power. One was to turn screen timeout to 10 seconds, but that was not an option in the settings. The Power Saving option can be used, but it means you canโt turn on the display with your wrist. I have chosen to deal with it by charging my battery during the day as I am sitting at my desk at work. Luckily, it fully charges up in about an hour. The watch comes with quite a few apps already preloaded. I did a search for recommended apps to download, and I chose Gboard, Samsung Internet, Keep Notes, Shazam, Todoist, and Weather. My must-haves were downloaded Strava, Spotify, and MyFitnessPal. After the downloads, I have 6.2 GB left in storage and 547 MB memory. Looking through my list of apps, I see I have apps that do similar things. I plan to prune those repetitive apps to free up space. Here are some of the aspects that stand out for me and make me love this watch: โข The ability to personalize the clock face with complications (features on a watch face) and a larger font. โข A bevy of health and fitness features that I can grow into. That means I wonโt be outgrowing my watch any time soon. โข Many ways to customize the display, tiles, apps, etc. โข Automatic workout detection. On the positive side, it senses when I am working out even if I forget to start a workout. On the flip side, it pauses when I stop to talk to people on a walk. โข I will never, ever drop my phone in the toilet because I can read my texts/emails and even make calls on my watch. โข Communicating isnโt easy with the small keyboard, but the suggested messages make responding a breeze. โข The ability to measure HR, stress, body composition, ECG, and sleep; the amount of data you learn about yourself and how you can use the measurements and data to improve your health fitness.
