A light, portable, and convenient device but...

This is a light, portable, convenient, and reliable device, if you want to use it as an entertainment device such as web surfing and watching YouTube. However, as an over $1000 of laptop, it's failed. The response time is a tempo late, a lot of software's doesn't work properly. The compatability is not as good as like other regular laptops. Even you want to use 5G functions, you have to log on with Microsoft account but also you have to install an application for it. If you are a student or a heavy user, then buy other surface pro version without 5G function.

A bit overpriced, can handle most things thrown in its way, if you want a gaming laptop I wouldn't recommend because most laptops that are not built for gaming will compromise on size and quite a ton of things for aesthetics and portability, while also putting into consideration battery life, so if you want a gaming device either build a desktop to your specification or buy one. Its efficient for my everyday use at the moment. Lastly, fan noise is a bit irritating though.

Was looking for a drawing tablet that used Windows & didn't require tethering to a laptop, or desktop PC. Great for this use case, but I couldn't see myself buying it for anything else at all. On a side note, the WiFi, or storage causes updates such as from Microsoft and Intel to go EXTREMELY slow. Our laptop & desktop PCs do not suffer from this issue.

DO NOT BUY. Google light spot on surface pro. Seriously just google it. There are soooo many forums and complaints on light spot damages that aren't even cause by the user. I've probably logged less than 20 hours on my laptop. Always closed in a case, but here I am with a damaged product ive barely used.

This is the 2nd Surface Pro I have owned, and I love the ease of setting up and use. The touchscreen is very receptive, and the pen works well on it. The size of the unit is perfect for travelling. The speed of the operating system is perfect for what I need in a laptop. They are a little on the expensive side, but I needed something portable and easy to use.

Terrible battery life

It's just ok. The entire reason I switched from a desktop to a laptop (Yes, I bought the keyboard) was to not be tied down to a power cord but this has not proven to have a battery that lasts long enough to even just browse websites while having my morning coffee. Maybe I got a dud. While the graphics are fine the unit as a whole feels very fragile.

The Surface 9 Pro comes out of the box with very little fanfare--a tablet with a power adapter, cable and charger. I was surprised at how quick it booted up and began the "birth" routine, unlike the last new Windows device I witnessed. No endless "Please wait--setting up your device" stuff. I was also happily surprised at the quality of the display. Nothing tablet-like about it--it looked every bit as good as a laptop with all the bells and whistles. It's a touchscreen that is super-sensitive and looks good at side angles too. You will want to acquire a USB adapter or a hub so that you can connect thumb drives and cards to one of the USB-C ports on it, as there is no SD card slot or standard USB ports. This seemed annoying at first, but I found a great one for less than $15 and also realize that the way of the world is wireless transfer. Likewise--there is no audio out (or in) jack, but since 99% of everything is Bluetooth now that also doesn't seem to matter. It paired my Sony phones instantly and wowed me with the sound quality. It is equipped with Dolby Atmos sound tech, and the two speakers actually produce really good sound with even some bass, and are nearly impossible to find on the tablet itself. I had the phones on while watching music videos and decided right there and then that this tablet (and seperately sold keyboard) will be primarily devoted to entertainment. I love the video and audio quality of this device. The charger is a proprietary type unique to this Surface tablet line as far as I know. It has two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt for fast transfer. You can't charge it through those ports, and it is a concern that someone may mistakenly try that. It has an i5 Intel processor, 8Gb of RAM, 256GB SSD storage, pretty much a powerhouse for something this small and this light. It's fast. And of course it's quiet. It handled the new version of Photoshop Elements with ease. If this combination of tablet and keyboard is in your budget, this would make a great Christmas gift. For yourself even.

Surface Pro 5G is a winner!

I purchased the Surface Pro 9 5G to replace my iPad Pro as my daily laptop/tablet. So far, the experience has been stellar. My iPad Pro 11" M1 has been listed for sale, and I am returning my iPad Pro 12.9" M2 + Magic Keyboard, which costs a ludicrous $1,800 out the door (5G enabled modeled). I'd also like to mention that when it comes to the reviews I read on this device, both with out-of-touch tech YouTubers and here on Best Buy, I think individuals need to do their research before making a purchase. I see complaints that specific applications do not work with the device, which is true because when you buy the SQ3 version, it runs an ARM processor, which has much less compatibility than devices running Intel/AMD processors with an x64/x86 architecture. So if you have some applications that are must-haves for you, check to see if the apps are compatible with ARM before buying and then complaining, saying it doesn't work. I'd also consider doing some research to improve your tablet experience on the Surface Pro. For example, 3 must-have apps for me (found in the Microsoft Store) are Legere, Awesome Tube (aka A-Tube), and Gesture Sign. The first two apps are lightweight alternatives with tablet interfaces in mind for Reddit and YouTube rather than using the website. Gesure Sign allows you to create and add gestures to help you navigate the OS. With that being said, we can move on to the review. What I love about the Surface Pro 9 5G: 1. Gorgeous display. 120hz is a plus, especially since all my devices (except my TVs) run at 120/165hz. The display is smooth enough with 60hz for me not to notice the difference, which is saying something. Apple is the only manufacturer I've seen pull off these smooth 60hz screens. 2. 5G connectivity. Having a laptop that doubles as a tablet and staying connected to the internet at all times is fantastic. Thankfully I already had an active tablet line with my carrier, so popping the SIM card out of my iPad and into my Surface worked without any issues. 3. Battery life is FANTASTIC. Depending on what you're doing, you can easily pull off 12 hours of mixed usage with this thing. 4. Cool to the touch and silent. The fanless design of the SQ3 Surface Pro 9 is fanless, which keeps the device silent at all times, and it runs very coolly to the touch. 5. Webcam is much improved from what I remember when I last used a Surface Pro (the Surface Pro 7). The webcam is so crisp, and the SQ3 brings many features that I most likely won't use but are lovely to have and practical. 6. The ability to switch out the SSD is a great addition. I am not sure if you could do this on other Surface Pro models, but I love that I can do it on this one! 7. SQ3 is snappy. The OS is fast in boot speeds, navigation, and waking the device from sleep. -- What I don't love: 1. I think the experience of using the device with the keyboard attached to the lap could be better. It's not bad, but it could be better. 2. Not the product's fault, but it would be nice to see Microsoft work harder to improve the tablet experience. Windows 11 still isn't the best operating system for using full touchscreen and gestures without a keyboard/mouse/trackpad. 3. I wish the base model came with 16GB of RAM. Thankfully, much of my workflow consists of Word documents and programs that are accessed via the browser, but if you do any tasks that require you to have a billion apps open, you should step up to the 16GB version. That's about it for my negatives. Can't complain; I can only nitpick, which is awesome! The Surface Pro 9 5G is a winner!

Perfect little computer for everyday users. It does struggle a little with heavy gaming, such as Tabletop Simulator. But for most work programs or Microsoft games, it works beautifully. Runs Windows 11, so be careful about software that only works on Windows 10 or older. Really good battery life when not playing a game.

Good and bad aspects to consider

With my purchase only a month or so old, this computer is working well. The location of the built-in camera is reasonable although I can't seem to adjust my position to optimize my screen presence. Peripherals are needed to hook up things like a mouse or download a thumb drive. The computer is heavier than I anticipated because of the need to carry a battery, although I still don't know how long I could get away without it. So far, I haven't figured out how to use the screen by itself (without the keyboard attached). The screen is touch sensitive, so there must be an onscreen keyboard that I could pull up. But I find it quicker to use the keyboard, so my hopes of using just the lightweight screen alone haven't been fulfilled, yet. Biggest downside, this won't work on your lap because the screen won't stay up by itself (its 'leg' needs to rest on a solid surface).
