Compact yet powerful, the Nikon Z5 is a full-frame FX-format mirrorless camera designed to meet the demands of both photographers and videographers. Featuring a 24.3MP CMOS sensor and EXPEED 6 image processor, it delivers impressive image quality with sensitivity up to ISO 51200, 4.5 fps continuous shooting, and UHD 4K video at 30 fps. The camera's durable magnesium alloy body is weather-sealed, making it ideal for tough conditions. A high-resolution 3.6m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder ensures detailed eye-level shooting, while the 3.2" 1.04m-dot tilting touchscreen LCD allows for flexible composition from various angles. Additionally, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are built-in for seamless file transfer and remote control via the Nikon SnapBridge app.
24.3MP FX-Format CMOS Sensor and EXPEED 6 Processor
The Z5’s 24.3MP full-frame CMOS sensor, coupled with the EXPEED 6 processor, offers a balance of high sensitivity and image quality. Its native ISO range of 100-51200 can be expanded up to ISO 102400 for extreme low-light scenarios. The combination of resolution and sensor size ensures sharp, clean images with smooth color transitions and reduced noise. The processor also enhances performance, offering 4.5 fps continuous shooting and the ability to extract 8MP stills during video recording.
For fast and accurate focusing, the camera features a 273-point hybrid autofocus system, utilizing both phase and contrast detection. Eye Detection AF locks focus on subjects’ eyes, while Face Detection AF ensures clarity for both stills and video, with support for human and animal subjects.
UHD 4K Video Recording
In addition to stills, the Nikon Z5 captures UHD 4K video at up to 30 fps and Full HD at up to 60 fps. It supports internal recording and output via HDMI to an external recorder. UHD 4K uses a 1.7x crop, while Full HD takes advantage of the full frame. In-camera time-lapse shooting is also supported, enabling direct creation of 4K time-lapse videos.
Sensor-Shift Vibration Reduction
The Z5 is equipped with 5-axis sensor-shift Vibration Reduction (VR), providing up to five stops of stabilization for handheld shooting. This system works with both native lenses and adapted lenses (via the FTZ Adapter) and offers 3-axis stabilization for the latter. For video, Electronic VR helps stabilize footage for smoother handheld recording.
