A full-frame flagship DSLR that raises the bar in photography and imaging. Equipped with a 20.2MP full-frame sensor, its AF/AE tracking capabilities enable the realization of continuous shooting speeds of up to 14fps (Viewfinder shooting). High-speed Live View shooting of up to 16fps is also possible. With the Dual Pixel CMOS AF, smooth and seamless AF can be carried out via touchscreen operations during Live View shooting. Movie shooting is also possible at 60p/50p according to the 4K standard. Combined with a shutter durability of 400,000 cycles and a dust and drip-proof body, this high-performing, versatile model is one that professional photographers can trust.
The EOS-1D X Mark II realizes continuous shooting speeds that surpass those on previous models — 14 fps (with AF/AE tracking) and 16 fps (Live View shooting). It also has abundant writing speed to support the large amount of data generated, thanks to the Dual DIGIC 6+ processors and compatibility with CFast 2.0*. The greatly expanded AF detection area—up to 61 points at f/8 — promises high AF performance that will please photographers who hope to get even closer to their subjects with the use of extenders. There are approx. 360,000 pixels in the new RGB + IR metering sensor. This not only allows for more refined exposure control due to better recognition of facial features and colour information, but also enables even more precise scene detection, and hence better AF accuracy and improved control over colour reproduction.
4K movie shooting is supported up to 60p/50p, and the footage produced is of extreme smoothness and high definition. The Dual Pixel CMOS AF system unique to EOS allows AF to be carried out quickly and smoothly during Live View shooting, and is further enhanced by the ability to control AF using the touch panel LCD screen. This makes the EOS-1D X Mark II a powerful weapon not just for stills, but also for 4K movie shooting where high AF precision is necessary. The Frame Grab function allows a single frame of approximately 8.8 megapixels to be extracted during playback of a 4K movie and saved as a JPEG image*. High Frame Rate movie shooting in Full HD at 120 fps/100 fps is also possible.
With its 400,000 cycle shutter durability and drip- and dust-resistance of the highest level of all EOS cameras, the EOS-1D X Mark II is equipped to face the extreme shooting conditions a professional photographer encounters. Its light and durable magnesium alloy body secretes a GPS unit at the top of its pentaprism portion that logs Coordinated Universal Time as well as information on shooting location, a useful feature for managing large quantities of shooting data. High speed file transfer can be carried out their through Gigabit-Ethernet wired LAN or USB 3.0.
