This is probably the most expensive mouse on the market, however the features you get, you wont be disappointed. It has the technology to replicate the same functions as your Mac trackpad, as well as invisible scrolling, just drag your finger down and it scrolls, no mess, no fuss, no annoying click click as it scrolls. Probably the best feature is the battery life, Ive had mine 4 months on ONE single charge. Granted I dont use mine every single day, but if you use it every now and again for example; for a project youre working on, it should last 4-6 weeks easy. You can click and click and click. Movement is clean and crisp, and connects with absolute ease. You wont go far wrong with the Apple Mouse 2.

Excellent for MacBook users

I am writing this review 5 months after purchasing the mouse because it just now ran out of battery charge, which is incredible. I use my MacBook at home for college work by docking it to an external monitor, so I purchased the mouse since I could no longer use the track pad with my MacBook closed. Overall the mouse works exactly as needed for school work. I can browse web pages, edit documents and spreadsheets, and use all of the Macbook track pad shortcuts with ease. This is obviously not a gaming mouse. As mentioned, I use the mouse nearly every day and for multiple hours at a time and it took over 5 months to drain the battery. Charging is simple with the included lightning cord. Make sure you test out different sensitivity options in System Preferences to make sure you get it working just how you want it.

Apart from looking fab, this mouse is compact, lightweight, accurate and very easy to use. It is very pleasing for my hand and the hold position is much better for my arthritic thumb which curls in towards the mouse, as apposed to other types I have used where the design causes the joint at the base of the thumb to collapse in towards the palm. It has a nice quiet click. Otherwise two user errors I need to learn to overcome:- firstly that because it is so smooth it is possible to allow the mouse to slip forward so that you are no longer clicking or scrolling in the proper place, secondly because it is so symmetrical it is quite possible to hold it back to front, and find yourself with an wild curser as you click/scroll with the wrong end! Regarding the hold, it might help to know that I am a woman of average size.

The new magic mouse 2 is a great mouse in all ways but one. It is smooth, and easy to use, it looks great, and functions as a mouse should. And its USB charging feature is really great. The only issue is the charging point is on the underside of the mouse, so you can't use the mouse whilst it's charging. Most of the time, you will remember to charge your mouse when the battery gets low. But then the day will come when you forget to charge it, and this feature will drive you up the wall. (To save myself from this frustration, I have a mouse app on my phone, allowing me to use my phone as a mouse. Highly recommend getting an app like this, for those rare yet desperate times, whilst your mouse is lying idly on its side, obliviously charging away). But other than this, i love my new mouse, and would even recommend it to friends. So happy not to be buying all those batteries anymore.

There are a few things I love about this mouse. 1) It now is rechargeable via lightning cable and requires no batteries. In the alkaline battery version the batteries lasted forever, but it is still nice to know that essentially it is impossible to run out of power if you plug in the mouse occasionally. 2) The touch surface is incredibly responsive. In what could easily turn into a disaster, the design of the touch interface really delivers good tracking clarity and gesture control. After just a few hours of use all of the commands seem second nature. 3) Design. Some functionality is lost in the fact that there are not two physical buttons (i.e. this is not a great gaming mouse), but it is all made up for in style. Of course Apple products value form over function and this is no different. the sleek design was so clean that it essentially looks identical to the Magic Mouse 1. A few considerations for this mouse are notable. Firstly, if you want to be able to right click with the mouse, you need to enable the function in the settings of your Mac. Does anyone really use this mouse without the right click enabled? Since it is turned off by default I could see someone thinking that since there is only one huge physical button that it might not have the ability to right-click... which would be frustrating. Some gestures are annoying. Again, the ones that are intuitive are quite helpful, but some of them are just overboard and need to be disabled. Again, I could see this being frustrating to a new user or a user with limited knowledge. Lastly, it is pricey - my Magic Mouse one lasted for years and years and still works perfectly. I would like to think that this mouse will be the same. With an item that takes day to day use and abuse I could see that some might be hesitant to spend $70 on a mouse.

Hopefully Apple will figure out the charge port location next time. I knew this when I purchased it. I just try to charge it when I know it is running low and I won't need to use it. It does charge quickly. My main reason for purchasing the Magic Mouse over other products is for the gestures. I use them constantly with my Mac to switch screens for productivity with work. Have had some connectivity issues, but nothing major.

I, like many others, have the same complaint. Why would Apple put the charging port on the underside? It makes it to make this my primary mouse device. Additionally, the click is also very loud. I wish it could be muted it can be with the Magic Trackpad. Decent mouse, probably way better options. It will occasionally become a bit unresponsive and move slowly until I blow in the underside.

It works well enough, and some of the gestures are nice on it. I have a 2019 MacBook Pro, so I have the nice big trackpad. Usually I end up ignoring the Magic Mouse, and using the trackpad because the track pad is that good. It charges with the lightning cable like the iPhone, and I wish that it was a type C usb instead so that I could have one cable for the computer and mouse instead of dragging another cable around (although if you have an iPhone, you’re most likely carrying a lightning around anyway). Debatable if I would but it again since it gets ignored over the track pad so often. I might use it more if I was at a real desk more often. It was pricey, and I got it openbox. Once it’s been set up on another computer, connecting it is kind of tricky, and that is why I knocked it for ease of use. I had to look up how to get it to connect and forget the other person’s Mac.

This may not look very special but it is. I have an slightly older Mac that came with the first version of the Magic Mouse. It required batteries which I could run through like they were nothing. It ended up not working as well after about 5 years or so and I just decided to get a new one. The Magic Mouse 2 is what I found and I love it. It’s wireless and requires no batteries and has no other pieces but the mouse itself. I don’t have to worry about something connecting to the computer just charging it with a regular Apple charger. One charge last a long time. I use my computer a couple hours a day and can get over a week of use out of it once charged.

This is just so so bad in so many ways. Everyone talks about how the mouse cannot be charged and used at the same time. True. It cannot. Terrible design, but also how often does this really become a problem? Doesn't feel great in the hand. The touch surface for buttons works ok but often it interprets a touch as a scroll-sideways command which is utterly maddening and must be disabled in the software. Won't fully support PCs. Costs 3x as much as it should. Other than showing the battery level in the mouse control panel, I cannot think of a single reason to buy this mouse.
